Let us put this another way. Most people live no longer than one hundreds years at the most. Walking the Path more or less clumsily, they cover only a short distance before they die.No single person gets very far- and who is to carry on where he leaves off? The answer is posterity. Succeeding generations, benefiting from the insight gained by their predecessors, inherit the task of carry on where their elders have left off, making steadily more progress until the time comes when of of them manages to complete the journey.
